Overview

eHealthConnecticut is the not for profit entity incorporated in January 2006 that represents a collaborative approach to meeting the challenges of health information technology adoption and interoperability for the entire State. A Board of Directors representing physicians, providers, consumers, purchasers, payers, academia, and quality organizations governs eHealthConnecticut. eHealthConnecticut operates in a transparent fashion with the necessary privacy and security protections in place to earn trust from all entities and the general public.

eHealthConnecticut’s mission is to facilitate the statewide adoption of electronic health records, health information exchange, and quality reporting to dramatically improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of health care in Connecticut. Under a cooperative agreement with the federal Office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, eHealthConnecticut was designated as the Regional Extension Center for Connecticut.

In this role eHealthConnecticut provided technical assistance to help 1,300 primary care providers implement EHR systems and achieve Meaningful Use. Currently eHealthConnecticut is engaged on three multi-year programs to help providers prepare for value-based contracting and incentive payments. Two programs are federally funded Transforming Clinical Practice Initiatives (TCPI), and one is funded by the Connecticut State Innovation Model (SIM) program under the Community and Clinical Integration Program.

SMC provides program management and technical assistance services to eHealthConnecticut’s clients. The services include the selection and implementation of EHR systems, Health Information Exchange capabilities, care management solutions, and automated quality, compliance and performance reporting dashboards.
